My dog is red around his mouth. It’s come up in the last 24 hours and he definitely hasn’t eaten anything red. Should I be worried?

It looks like Russell's skin is irritated, and this could be from allergies. It could also be that he has a skin infection. I wouldn't be overly worried about it, but it is something that should be checked out by a vet. Give his vet a call to make an appointment to have this examined, diagnosed, and treated. Best of luck, I hope this helps.

That looks like an allergic reaction. I would give him TWO of the 25mg benadryl capsules and see if that helps to reduce these lesions by the morning. If not, then I would get him to your vet for an exam.
Other possibilities:
1. Superficial dermatitis - skin inflammation/infection.
2. Autoimmune disorder like lupus. He would need some testing to figure that out if your vet thinks this may be the case.
3. Furunculosis - deep bacterial infection of the follicles.
4. Tumors - possible but not likely.
I hope this helps. Best wishes!
