Why is my Goldendoodle puppy's pupil red and eye suddenly blind?

Sophie could have injured her eyes or could have a severe eye infection. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it is considered and emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take Sophie into a vet now, who can diagnose what is caused her eye problems so she can be treated.

Poor guy. I can't see the eye really clear here but can definitely tell that the pupil sizes are different. The left eye appears to be smaller than the right. I suspect that there may be an internal issue with the eye such as a condition called synechiae which is where the lens adheres to another structure in the eye causing inadequate proper flow through the eye chambers. This is considered to be a moderately severe condition and should be checked by your vet asap. The vet will have to do a proper eye exam to confirm the diagnosis and then get Ziggy on prescription eye mediation to hopefully stabilize the eye if this is what is going on. Another possible causes for this would be a condition called anisocoria, which could indicate a blood pressure issue. I hope that Ziggy's eye returns to normal soon! Causes of chemosis would include bacterial or viral keratitis, foreign object under the third eyelid, trauma, orbital cellulitis or a tumor of the eye. I would recommend having Maggie examined by a veterinarian. More testing needs to be done. A topical anesthetic applied to the eye will help facilitate a more accurate eye examination. A veterinary ophthalmologist may also be someone that needs to look at this further as they typically have more diagnostic equipment than a general practitioner. It is usually caused by a scratch, foreign material, blunt trauma, or caustic substance irritation to the eye. You need to take Zeus to your local vets for an appointment as soon as possible. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, Zeus most likely will need a course of eye drops and anit-inflammatory medication. Untreated corneal ulcer can turn into a melting ulcer, which can cause loss of vision in that eye.

This could be caused by trauma to the eye, the nerves leading to the eye, or even the brain. It could also be caused by an infection. It's very concerning when there's a problem with the eye such as this, and it requires an immediate vet visit. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to permanent vision loss.
