What are these red marks on my dog's belly after anesthesia?

Hello, thank you for your question about Harley. Based on the photo that you’ve attached it appears that small area is a blood blister or forming bruise. If Harley recently had surgery it is possible that she is having a mild reaction to the surgical antiseptic used or that area is where one of the surgical instruments rested. As long as Harley does not super painful around the area I would recommend continuing to monitor the area. If it does not fade or go away in the next few days I would recommend having Harley evaluated by a veterinarian. Hope this helps!

Oh no. Poor guy. It looks like he is having a superficial pyoderma ("hot spot") reaction to his skin following the injection, and maybe even a bit of cellulitis. You will need to unfortunately take Lucky back to the vet to get this treated with oral antibiotics, and also oral pet friendly anti-inflammatory medication. The topicals aren't going to be enough to help this resolve. You can clean the area with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water to keep it clean. You should definitely also keep the e-collar on him until this has resolved or at least until it is no longer bothering him. I am sorry your fur baby had such a bad reaction and hope that this can be avoided in the future. Best wishes and take care!

It looks like it is on the right thigh? It is possible that this could be a deep skin infection, a demodex mite problem, a mass (tumor), or even a Rabies vaccine reaction site. I would encourage you to have a follow up appointment with your veterinarian. They may recommend looking for mites, an oral antibiotic, or even a biopsy. This actually looks like dried blood. It's difficult to tell from the pictures, but I would first make sure that it's not something that can be washed off. If it's not, then this would be from bleeding under this skin and would indicate a clotting disorder - in this case, it would be an emergency and you should take Frank to the vet as soon as possible. Hi there, Is this dark red circle flat and not swollen? If so, it appears most similar to a black fly bite. You can look these up on google images. They are generally benign but some dogs benefit from anti itch medications. If its warm to touch or swollen, or she seems to develop more of these bruises even while indoors, those would be reasons to have Stevie seen by her vet to ensure it's not something more serious. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. You can consider a medicated shampoo you can get at your local pet store containing chlorhexidine which may help with a mild superficial infection. You may use this twice weekly. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!

This is more likely due to some form of mild trauma perhaps when playing. I would just continue to monitor him for now.
