My 2-year-old German Shepherd has a red lump. What is it, how to treat?

This could be a ringworm lesion(fungal disease), a vitiligo lesion (where the pigment of the skin is lost), or a wart or other tumor. This will need to be examined in a hands-on matter, the skin needs to be palpated, a possible skin scrape or brush sample taken or a fine needle aspirate, in order to properly diagnose this condition. Once a diagnosis is made it will be clear whether treatment is necessary or not and if so, what kind of treatment. Please schedule an appointment with your veterinarian for an exam.

With Artu being young and the location of this mass being on or around the face, statistically speaking this is most likely a benign lesion. The first one that comes to mind is known as a histiocytoma, something that is not a concern and will often resolve spontaneously even if left to its own devices. Getting the cytology sent out to the lab is definitely the way to go in order to be sure it isn't anything more harmful that requires immediate attention. Though you indicated the area is non-painful and he does not seem negatively effective systemically, this is not necessarily an indication of Artu's overall health relating to this lesion. There are certainly other types of lesions that can occur in young animals that are concerning, some of which come to mind include mast cell tumors and/or melanomas. However, these would be less likely. Hope this makes sense.

The most common growth looking like that is a viral pappiloma, it's a tumor caused by a virus, it tends to resolves itself without treatment with time. I would still recommend having it checked by your vet to make sure.

A black crusty lump could be a sebaceous gland tumor (usually benign), a papilloma, or a cancerous mass. Skin lesions can sometimes be identified just by looking at them. Do have your vet or one of the experts here to look at it first. If it can't be identified then having this mass biopsied and analyzed will lead to a proper identification. I hope this helps!

I've seen this type of bump or sore after a tick or spider bite. It often lasts a few weeks and then resolves. If it's a mass and it enlarges please take him in to have it examined and removed if needed. As long as you are keeping an eye on it and it's not bothering your dog you can wait a week or two before getting it examined, as it may go away by then. Unfortunately the color on the picture is quite distorted. However if appears to be a possible abscess (infected pocket caused by trauma to the skin) or a large inflammatory response to a bug bite (spider perhaps). It is large however and looks irritated so I would recommend having your vet examine this area closely. Jasmine will likely need some medicaitons to get this to resolve well. Poor girl. It could be an infection or possibly an auto-immune disease. Have your vet take a look at the lesions to determine the exact cause. Your vet can do a biopsy, if needed, to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to treat the problem. He may need an antibiotic and/or an anti-inflammatory.
