My dog has a red fluid-filled lump on her belly. What should I do?

Fluid filled structures on abnormal areas of the body are usually either cysts, abscesses, or tumors. The only way to know for sure is to have it examined by a veterinarian, and likely have it stuck with a needle to have the fluid examined.

Unfortunately it's illegal for us to give the dose information for any drug. In addition, antibiotics are not used to treat cysts. Looking at the pictures, I don't think Abby has a cyst, I'm afraid she has a mammary tumor. With mammary tumors, 50% of them are malignant. You will have to take her into a vet to get this examined and treated. There are a couple of things this lump on Heidi could be such as a benign tumor, a cyst, or a malignant tumor. Unfortunately without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain what it is, so I recommend a vet visit. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. I would take her into the vet in the next couple of days to have this lump examined and diagnosed so it can be treated as need. This appears to be what's known as a serous cyst. These are often caused by some sort of trauma to the skin; like a pinch or bite. They are usually benign (will not cause a problem) and will go away on their own in two weeks or so. It's possible for it to get infected, so watch for signs of increased redness, pus and an increase in size as a sign that it is getting infected. If you notice this, then she will need to go to the vet for treatment. I hope that helps and Nahla gets better soon.

Bella could have a skin infection if she has red pus filled bumps all over her belly. Without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain, so I do recommend that she sees a vet for this today or tomorrow. The vet can diagnose what is causing these bumps and can prescribe medication to treat it.

This lump/growth should be ideally examined by your veterinarian to have a definitive diagnosis. Your vet will examine it and possibly perform with an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy. Differentials would include skin cyst, infections or benign or malignant type of tumors.
