My Labrador has a red dot on his groin, is it serious?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 11 months and 6 days old | 80 lbs

I noticed this one red dot on labs groun area. He doesn’t seem to be bothered by it. I washed him with oatmeal and aloe shampoo today

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Judging from the picture, I suspect this is a small wound from a bug bite or a skin infection. It looks as though there was a pustule there previously that potentially ruptured. I would monitor this for now and if it worsens or does not resolve, I would recommend having Cooper examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
