My pitbull has a red, bleeding lump on her stomach. Is it a tumor?

These are masses (tumors) that should be examined by your vet. Just by looking at them it is not possible to determine whether they are malignant or benign, but your vet can do a so-called FNA (Fine Needle Aspirate) where he takes a little bit of tissue of the growth with a very fine injection needle (usually does not hurt) and sends it to a laboratory to determine malignancy. Hello, that little red growth does look a little suspicious. If Heidi was a little younger I would have been suspicious of a common benign mass knows as a hemangioma which typically resolves on its own. However, with Heidi being a little older, you should air on the safe side and have that checked out by your veterinarian to ensure it is nothing you need to be aggressive about. It can still be a hemangioma but the best way to ensure it is benign is to test the cells that make up the little lump itself. Hope this helps

Hello. It is difficult to tell if this is a cyst or a small tumor, but it is good to have this looked at soon. Iggy is young, so I am not so much concerned about this being very serious, but Pitbulls do seem to be a little more inclined to develop what we call button tumors. Most of these are not terrible dangerous, & if your veterinarian suggests having this removed & the tissue sent for pathology, I would do so. Often, with these small tumors, removal is curative. But knowing what this is also gives you a heads up as to whether or not other small tumors may arise from time to time. I would not panic over anything I have said, but wait to have this looked at. Yes, I would be a bit worried. The location of that lump is concerning. I would definitely have it checked out. It's not an emergency but I would try to have it checked out soon. I know you love Sasha. She is lucky you rescued her! Best wishes!

Anytime a new mass is noticed, I always recommend having it evaluated to see what it is and if anything needs to be done about it. Unfortunately, we can't tell anything about a mass by just looking at it. Your vet can perform a simple test called a fine needle aspirate where they use a small needle to collect some cells from the mass, then look at them under the microscope. They may even need to send the cells to the lab for a pathologist to examine them, so we know what the mass is. If it is benign, you might not need to do anything about the mass at all, but if they see cells that worry them, they might recommend removing the mass. Since Asia's mass may be along her mammary glands, they may also recommend spaying her if her mass is affected by hormones. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and that Asia is fine. This looks like a possible mass that has a really good blood supply or even a blood blister. I would try applying a cold compress on it for 5-10 minutes, if a vet is not readily available. If you can get the bleeding to stop tonight I would leave it be for now and then get this checked in the morning by your vet if possible. However if you cannot get the bleeding to stop even after the cold compress and perhaps even placing a make-shift wrap around it, then an ER vet visit has to be considered to stabilize the area. However, an ER vet visit is usually only needed if it is gushing blood, for fear or too much blood loss. If it is oozing then it likely can wait until morning before seeking veterinary assistance. Then surgical removal of this mass should be highly considered to avoid this type of complication in the future. Best of luck with Maggie and I hope you get this resolved soon. Take care.
