Thank you for submitting your question regarding your dog. I recommend bathing him with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula. It looks like he could have a skin infection or allergic dermatitis. You could bathe him with a medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps. Otherwise, have your vet take a look at him to treat. He may need an antibiotic and/or anti-inflammatory to treat.

If they came up suddenly, they may be some kind of insect bite or an allergic reaction. Since he is so young, it's also possible that it is a condition called puppy pyoderma, which is roughly euivalent to acne in people. If this is the case it usually will clear up on its own, but since his look pretty widesprad, I would get him checked by your vet to make sure he doesn't need medication to speed his healing.

They could be hives. Commonly insect stings or spider bites can cause a hypersensitivity reaction that can cause hives and sometimes gastrointestinal problems as well. I see that you posted this 15 min or so ago- if he isn’t starting to improve or if you see any facial swelling then I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. He will definitely need to be seen by your veterinarian for strong medications to stop him from licking/scratching the area and then a short course of antibiotics to clear the infection. You should do it then work with your vet nearing to find out what it is he has an allergy to. My pitbull has a spreading rash but isn't itching. What's the cause?

This is probably due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). My pitbull puppy has a hot, spreading belly rash. Should I see a vet?

Hello, and thank you for your question. Poor Skye. My guess is this is a severe allergic reaction as well as secondary bacterial infection of the skin. If ointments and benadryl are not helping, she will require stronger, oral medications, to control the inflammation and treat the infection. This will require a visit to the veterinarian. I would recommend this visit within the next 12-24 hours, given how uncomfortable this looks for Skye. In the meantime, you could try giving Skye a bath with a gentle aloe and oatmeal type of shampoo, just to give her some temporary relief, and hope to wash off any surface allergens that may be irritating her skin. Rinse off the shampoo thoroughly with lukewarm water afterwards, and pat dry (don't rub). I hope this helps, and your little girl is feeling better soon.

He will need to be examined, started on his vaccinations and deworming. The rash can be addressed as well. It could be a mild allergic reaction, impetigo or even an overgrowth of a mite known as Demodex. The veterinarian will guide you as far as any testing or treatment needed. My 3-month-old Pitbull puppy has itchy skin and white bumps. Why?

Pitbulls are known for having allergy issues but I have not seen them show up in one quite so young. Without a photo it is hard for me to comment too much as to what may be going on. At 3-1/2 months old he will be due for vaccines again soon so I suggest you just monitor and bring this up at the next vet exam. My Pitbull has a dry, scabby belly rash. Is it serious with thyroid meds?

If the rash is not itchy, and she does not seem bothered by it, you are ok to wait a few weeks to see if the medications help or if it goes away on its own. If it is itchy, Baile may have allergic skin disease or a bacterial or fungal infection that needs to be treated by your veterinarian. Hope that helps!
