My boxer has recurring pus pockets on her belly and legs. Should she see a vet?

My almost one year old boxer has pus pockets all over her belly and underside of all her legs. They go away for a day maybe but then get really bad all over. I Do I need to bring her in? She's mainly a house dog but goes outside a lot

Hello! Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! From the pictures you attached, it certainly looks like Miley is dealing with a skin infection. If you are able to get in to see your veterinarian, I would definitely get her checked out by her vet. Most likely Miley is going to require oral antibiotics, medicated shampoos and possibly some supplements to help deal with the infection. I do not know specifically what the cause of the skin infection was, but allergies can predispose them to developing skin infections. Your veterinarian can also talk to you about treating the primary problem, which might be the allergy. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns regarding Miley. This may be due to a bacterial infection, mite infection, or due to an underlying allergy. I would recommend she see her veterinarian as soon as possible. Your veterinarian may do skin scraping to check for mites and may prescribe a course of antibiotics or other medications as necessary. My 12-week-old puppy has worsening belly sores. What should I do?

It may be a little skin infection. It is common and easily can happen. They can also make it worse themselves. I would recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian to have them evaluate it since it may require antibiotics. Without seeing it though I cannot say for sure. My dog has white spots on her belly. Is it serious? What should I do?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This looks like a focal infection. These are called pustules and likely contain pus. You can try to use a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine twice weekly for 2 weeks. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and best wishes!

What are these spreading, scabbed sores on my dog's lower belly?

Hi there. From your photos, it appears that Pepper has some mild infection of her skin. This can be caused by an allergy to something, or allergy to food. Bacteria likes to invade skin that is inflamed and a small infection will develop. I would recommend taking Pepper to you vet for an exam and skin testing. My 3-month puppy has a skin infection. Should I take him to the vet?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It does look like Max has a skin infection. Washing him was a good idea but he likely needs oral antibiotics to cure it. Puppies commonly get skin infections on their belly because they have a weak immune system. I would take him to the vet to get medications started. Good luck and kisses to Max!

You can try to use a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine twice weekly for 2 weeks. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. It may be the picture but I am concerned that there may be also a lump as well. If that is the case, that should be evaluated to know if it is actually a growth. Good luck and have a good night!

Most likely Pixie will need a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory agents to fully recover. Please, make sure she is not licking or scratching the area as by doing that she will likely make things worse.
