What is this spot on my dog's rear? Hot spot, ringworm, or tumor?

You will need to take your dog to a veterinarian for a skin exam. Your dog could be suffering from an allergy, mites, fleas, a bacterial or fungal infection. each of these requires a different treatment, so it is important to find out what is causing the itch. This does, however look like a bacterial infection, Your vet will do a thorough exam and maybe a a skin scrape. He will then discuss the options with you and then prescribe medications such as antibiotics and possibly an antibiotic/antifungal shampoo.

That looks more like a really inflamed “hot spot” to me. Put an ecollar on him so he can’t lick at it, and take him to your vet. He may need oral antibiotics and a prescription topical treatment. Hello and thank you for your post! It certainly looks like it could resemble ringworm and with tater tots age, it makes her more susceptible to infections with an older immune system. If you haven't had tater tots blood tested in a while, I would also make sure that she does not have any other problems that could cause her immune system to be down. It certainly isn't an emergency and can wait to be seen by your vet. However, that being said, I would still try to keep the other dogs away from her and be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after touching her. I would have your vet scrape her skin to check for mites as well. I would get a plastic cone for tater as well so that she does not chew at the area. Hooefully your vet can determine what this is and get tater on the most appropriate treatment. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I am also available via consultation.

It doesn't really look like a ringworm but it is hard to be sure without examining Penny in person. Please, take all the precautions you would if it was ringworm (use gloves or wash your hand after touching the area) and take Penny to your local vets tomorrow.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to ringworm. This could also be just a focal skin bacterial infection, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Tika evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Ringworm can be transmitted to humans so just in case this is what is going with Tika, wear gloves when handling this lesion. Good luck and best wishes!

I'm not 100% sure what this spot is from just by looking at a photo. It could be just an injury but it could also be ringworm or skin mites (mange) or the start of a hot spot. I suggest you try this hot spot spray gel, 3-4 times per day. This could be ringworm or a hotspot. It doesn't look like it's cancerous to me, but I can't say that for certain without seeing Amber in person. Have her seen by a vet Monday morning to have this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.
