Why does my dog have a rash, scabs, and hair loss on his body?

If you are noticing actual bald areas on the skin, then this could be a sign of an underlying skin disorder, skin allergies or mange (Demodexx mites). I would recommend a vet appt to have this skin tested (skin scrape/cytology) and treated based on the findings. However if there is just increased shedding with no actual bald skin areas, then I would not be concerned. This could just be a response to the change in weather or seasons. Continue to brush the hair daily and make sure Thor is on a high quality dog food (Royal Canin, Eukanuba, Evo, etc). Also adding in daily pet formulate fish oils from your local pet store can promote a healthy shiny haircoat.

That is an understandable concern. It appears he has a very bad case of folliculitis, which can be caused by several things including a Demodexx mite infestation, a contact allergy, environmental allergy or flea allergy. He needs to first go on a good flea preventative (Nexgard, Bravecto, etc) and then have a skin scrape/cytology done to look for possible mites. He definitely needs a short course of antibiotics to treat for his current skin infection and then medication depending on the results of his skin scrape/cytology. If it’s on his neck it could be from his collar or something that rubs on that area. If it is just those 2 spots and there is no discharge from the area and Titan isn’t bothering them, I would leave the areas alone and let them continue to heal. I would keep his collar off for a few days to decrease more irritation. If the areas have discharge, or are getting bigger, I would take him to the vet. Good luck and kisses to Titan!

This looks like he has a mild skin infection or perhaps some irritation from a harness. You can bathe this area in a medicated shampoo which should improve the skin over time. If the harness is rubbing the area I would switch the harness. It the bald area is getting worse or spreading then I would bring him in for an exam. They may do a skin scraping to see whether the problem is caused by bacteria, yeast or mites. Once they have the specific diagnosis they can give Oswald the correct medication for treatment. Depending on Thor's age it could be demodectic mange, which is caused by a mite in the skin. It may be itchy as well, and he would need to see a veterinarian for treatment. It typically affects young dogs, but isn't contagious. Other possibilities would be ringworm or an allergy. If it's not improving on its own or getting worse I would see a vet.

This sounds like Bruce has a skin infection, or pyoderma. This usually needs antibiotics to resolve. However, in the meantime you can bathe him in an antimicrobial shampoo such as chlorhexidine or salicylic acid. These can be found in the human shampoo aisle in the dandruff area.
