My pug has pyometra. Why is she vomiting blood and how serious?

This may be caused by inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, intestinal parasites, or even a foreign body or obstruction. If you are concerned that the blood may be in Zoey's stool, I recommend having her seen by her vet to rule out the conditions above. You can bring a stool sample in a disposable container to help your vet rule out intestinal parasites quickly. I hope this helps and that all is well!

Vomiting blood is serious. The GI upset could be due to many conditions including eating something she shouldn't have, bacterial over growth, parasites (worms and giardia), poison, a bleeding disorder, pancreatitis, cancer or intestinal blockage. I recommend to have your pup examined by the veterinarian today. Try to remember to take in a stool sample. The doctor will check her for parasites and bacterial over growth and other diagnostics may be recommended as well. She needs the correct diagnosis in order to receive appropriate care. Hello. The pus in her uterus is a very serious condition called pyometra. Usually, the best way to deal with this is to perform an ovariohysterectomy & spay her. The only time to consider treating this condition with medications is if Chuski is a valuable breeding animal. But you are risking her health & she could die from this. Please consider the surgery. Cindy could have an infection, parasite, gastritis from something she ate, pancreatitis, ulcer, metabolic/endocrine disease. You could withhold food for the day and then try a bland diet, like chicken and white rice and see if that helps. If the vomiting continues or she becomes lethargic than she needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. Your vet can run lab-work and take x-rays, if needed, to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to help treat her problem. Hope she feels better soon.

Your poor pup! If she isn't spayed, I would be very concerned that she has a pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment, and it would cause a white discharge as well as vomiting. It sounds like your vet may have been suspicious she had a pyometra and tried treating it medically with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Unfortunately the medical route often isn't successful, and surgery is needed to treat it. This means spaying her. I would take her back into the vet immediately, as this is a medical emergency. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian as soon as possible. These symptoms are suspicious for a pyometra, or uterine infection, which can be life threatening if not treated promptly. There are many other diseases that can cause a decrease in appetite and vomiting, but if it has been going on for two days I think it's best to see a vet to determine what's going on.

Urinating blood can indicating a bladder infection or something potentially life threatening like a clotting disorder. The fact that he is also committing indicates systemic illness. The veterinarian will perform a physical exam and then recommend diagnostics such as urinalysis bloodwork or possibly radiographs (xrays). Good luck and I hope he’s better soon.
