My 10-week GSD puppy's hip hurts when touched. Is it serious?

There are many possible reasons but especially in German shepherds, hip dysplasia would be a serious concern, especially if she is reluctant to jump up or stretch. Most muscle injuries would be expected to be improving over 3-4days and xrays would be advisable if not settling

I suspect something is abnormal with Oggy's hips or hind legs. German Shepherds are known to have many problems with hip dysplasia and poor confirmation. Dogs should really not be tired to long periods of time (more than a few hours) and they should have enough space to move around, stretch....walk around etc. being sore afterwards is not expected. It is possible that one could have something to do with the other, but he could also be suffering from hip problems. Those are unfortunately common in large breed dogs such as GSDs, and I would have Taser seen by a vet tomorrow. The vet can do a lameness exam and x-rays to see what is causing him to favor his left hip. Once a cause is found, the vet can discuss treatment options with you.

Sometimes German Shepherds can have something called "Hip Dysplasia" and can have severe arthritis and abnormal hips and this can cause pain and trouble walking. I would consider at his age a referral to a veterinary surgeon to discuss any surgical options particularly for his hips. This might delay the onset of arthritis in the future. Depending on what's causing his elbow dysplasia surgery may be an option there as well. You could also get the advice of a surgeon as to which is more likely to cause issues the elbows are the hips. I would also recommend starting him on a joint supplement now and potentially omega-3 fatty acid supplementation.
