My dog's Prozac and Trazodone for anxiety stopped working. Why?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 25 lbs

my dog is on prozac as well as trazodone for separation anxiety issues. When my vet first prescribed her pills, they worked great. Now, it has been a few weeks, i’d estimate about a month or so, and recently they have seemed to stop working. I just wondered if there was a reason why this might be happening?

Many medications work great in the beginning and then after some time they start to stop working to the same extent, in some cases the dosage can be upped to achieve the desirable effect, you need to contact your vet regarding this issue.
