My dog is pregnant. Is it too late to terminate the pregnancy?

There isn't a safe method to terminate pregnancy other than spaying them. There also isn't a way to guarantee that Millie will be able to have the puppies. I would recommend discussing this scenario with Millie's vet. The vet can help you determine the best course of action. If she is pregnant and you elect not to have her spayed, it would be best to save money for a possible emergency c-section and know the available vet should an emergency arise.

Thank you for more information on your dog and the situation. A dog's pregnancy lasts between 58-68 days. Spaying her is still possible, but it's up to the vet to decide if they want to do it or not. As I said, there are vets who do not like to spay pregnant dogs that are far along in their pregnancy. I would give local vet clinics a call to see they would be willing to spay her. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sakura! If you think Sakura is in labor it is likely too late but she would need to be seen by a Vet right away. Sometimes progesterone and terbutaline can be used. Sadly if she is aborting or in labor too early then it usually indicates something is very wrong with the puppies, hormonally with Sakura or with her uterus (infection) and things are going to progress. I would suggest a specialty hospital or close Veterinary School where they may have reproduction specialists. I wish you all the best!

Hello, depending on the laws and regulation in the U.K., you may elect to have Paris spayed which will terminate the pregnancy and make it so that she is unable become preganant again. There are medications that your veterinarian can use to terminate the pregnancy, but again, it is dependant on the laws and regulations in your country and wether these medications are available there. If it is early pregnancy, she can be spayed. Some vets may also carry medication to abort the pregnancy. Having a litter prior to physical maturity can permanently stunt the growth. He may also see issues with the bitch being too immature to care for the puppies. I can understand your concern for your pet Gypsy. Fortunately it is impossible for a pregnant dog to reabsorb her fetus this late in the gestation process. This phenomenon happens before the pups get to get full grown, and often goes unnoticed. Typically dogs go into heat once every six months, but if she didn't nurse the puppies, it is possible she has gone into heat again; however, that's not a common occurrence. Given that Zeva has abandoned her puppies, it is indicative that she has poor mothering ability. This could be due to her age (it's never recommended to breed a dog on her first heat), or she may simply not have good mother abilities. Based on this, I would not recommend breeding her again, and I would have her spayed. Spaying her will abort a pregnancy now if she is pregnant, and prevent future litters from occurring. There is a shot that can be done to terminate a pregnancy, but it has to be done right after mating. I would take her into a vet now.
