Is it okay to feed my dog pork, chicken, and rice daily? How often?

It's fine to give chicken every day but if she only eats chicken and rice she will eventually develop health issues, you must feed her other things as well, preferably a good quality dry food for dogs.

You can always check the caloric content on the rice you are feeding him in combination with the caloric content of his diet to make sure that he does not get over fed and gains weight as a result. Chicken and rice is not a balanced diet for a dog. I would feed your dogs the Pedigree only, twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. The bag of dog food will have a daily recommended allotment of food, and divide that into two equal portions. Do not give them milk, dairy causes GI upset in dogs. Best of luck.

You could add some meat or chicken to your puppies dog food but your puppy needs to have some dog food because it is nutritionally balanced for a puppy. Feeding just meat/ chicken and rice is not recommended because your puppy would not be getting the proper nutrition. The problem with raw chicken and raw pork is that they may be contaminated with certain detrimental bacteria. So monitor your dog for diarrhea and vomiting. Should this occur you can try the following: I would fast Alley for 24 hours and then put her on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the diarrhea or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog gets lethargic, it needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.

Rice and milk is not nutritionally balanced for a dog, they require a varied meat based diet. I would recommend trying alternative commercial food which have been fully balanced and slowly mix this with the food she currently likes at about 10% extra per week until at least 80-90% of her diet is dog food

Your vet is correct that this is not a balanced diet for Chachi. Chicken and rice is fine as a short term diet when dogs have GI upset, but should not be given it as a daily diet. Your vet is also correct that you may have to starve her in order to get her to eat her dog food. I recommend offering her only a dog food. Put the food down in the morning and leave it from 15-20 minutes. It should be dog food only. Then after the 15-20 minutes, take the food away, and she gets no other food until dinner that night. This is extremely important! She needs to learn to eat what is offered to her, and giving her additional food during this time ruins that lesson. At dinner time, again put down dog food for 15-20 minutes, taking it away after that time even if she hasn't eaten it. Again, no food until breakfast the next morning. You have to be strict on this, and not give in. No more chicken and rice, dog food only. She will learn that the only food she gets is the dog food, and she will start eating it.
