My dog's poop or vomit has white parts. Is it diet or serious?

The dog food Arthur's been eating could be causing the gastrointestinal upset, but it could be due to other causes such as a parasitic infection or bacterial/viral infection. I would recommend having Arthur seen by his veterinarian soon. I would also bring a fecal sample to your vet's appointment in case your vet would want to test Arthur's stool for parasites, viruses, or bacteria. Until then, I'd try and feed a bland diet of boiled chicken, rice, and plain canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) to help ease his stomach. I hope this helps and thanks again for posting!

It sounds like she is having some gastrointestinal problems today. It is always best to seek veterinary care in this instance. However if that isn’t possible today then I would with hold food (not water) for the next several hours and then try small amounts of a bland diet made with boiled chicken and rice. Many dogs eat feces, it's a common behavior. It could be eating feces has made Oliver sick. Since he vomited, I'm going to give you a home remedy to see if that helps him. Withhold food for 12 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to know for sure if this is food based upon your description. It's certainly possible this is food. Check then house and yard for any similar objects that the dogs could have ingested. It could be either dry vomit or dry feces (if the it smells like food, it is more likely to be vomit though). Just to be on the safe side, start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. I would just give him a small dose of plain white boneless skinless chicken and white rice to help settle his tummy. If he is acting lethargic or continues to have vomiting or diarrhea, I would have a vet take a look at him. Small dogs like him can quickly get dehydrated.
