Why is my dog peeing inside after antibiotics for a bladder issue?

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 40 lbs

I took a sample of Remy's urine to the vet week before last ... they found a trace of protein, put her on antibiotics for a week ... she did great no accidents and didn't seem to need to go out every 5-10mins.... took another sample of urine back to Vet after her week of having antibiotics and the vet said everything look good ... Tonight she was rough housing/ playing with my bf and just all sudden stop , jump on the couch and peed ... what's her deal ?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear that Remy did that. It's possible she just got wrapped up in the moment of playing and then suddenly had the urge to urinate without bothering to ask to be let outside. Dogs sometimes exhibit odd behavior like this such as urinating on beds, couches, etc. I would advise just monitoring her for any signs that her urinary problems are returning. Sometimes urinary problems can be seen but the urinalysis is essentially normal, like in her repeat urinalysis. Watch for signs of increased thirst, increased urination, frequent urination, straining, and inappropriate urination. If these occur she may have a recurrence of the problem despite a fairly normal urinalysis. I hope this was an isolated incident and she doesn't relapse in her house training due to a urinary issue.     Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry to hear Charley is having urinary issues. Is she leaking urine when asleep/relaxed, or actively having accidents? If she is leaking urine (unaware that she is doing so, wakes up and there is a pee spot), she could be having incontinence issues. If she is having accidents, it could have a medical cause (urinary tract infection, bladder stones/debris, bladder inflammation, for example) or a behavioral cause (housetraining regression). I would recommend she be evaluated by a veterinarian and have her urine tested for any infection, etc; if it is an infection, she would need an antibiotic to help resolve it, which would not be available over the counter. If it is not an infection, a treatment plan can be decided on based on what may be going on. Good luck!

Poor Riley (and you!)! Riley could be urinating in the house because of a medical issue, such as a urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine or bladder stones. Behavioral stressors, such as a change in her normal routine, can trigger inappropriate urination in some pets. As a first step, Riley should be seen by her vet and have a urinalysis performed to check for the presence of infection and crystals. A urinary tract infection requires antibiotics and crystals may require a diet change. If medical issues are ruled out, consider using a calming pheromone diffuser or collar (Adaptil is one example).

She may have a urinary infection that causes her to have accidents due to not being able to hold it as Kong. She may be doing this out of stress or anxiety or something has changed in her environment or routine. Depending on where she is in her heat cycle it may be due to marking and territorial problems influenced by hormones The best place to start is gave your vet check for infection with the urine then look in to getting her fixed. From there you can look into repeating house training or behavioral medicines

Why did my house-trained dog pee while playing after a colon issue?
Hi. Poor Sonoma, housebroken dogs seem to get quite upset when they have an accident. If all else is normal and this was a one time thing I wouldn't worry. She may have just been too excited playing and forgot to ask to go out. If it happens more than once you may want to have her evaluate by her vet to rule out a urinary tract infection or some complication from her earlier procedure.

My dog keeps peeing in one spot indoors. Is she really house-trained?
H, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sadly if she is is going in the house she still isn't fully house trained. All rooms with doors should be closed and she needs to be gated to be kept in your site. Or she needs to be leashed to an adult until this behavior has stopped. The area she is soiling needs to be cleaned with an enzymatic pet cleaner, like Nature's Miracle. She needs to be take out frequently and verbally praised, as well as given treats, when she goes outside. Play with her for 5-10 mins. If she doesn't go outside she is crated or leashed to an adult until you take her out again. This training should go on for 3 months and she can have free reign of the house once there are no accidents for those 3 months. You can have her urine checked for crystals or infection by your Vet and consider having her spayed to see if that helps. I wish you the best!

Why is my dog peeing on the bed after surgery? Incontinence or UTI?
IF she is urinating and not knowing she is going, then she likely has incontinence. Pets will also often have pooling of urine if they are incontinent, which is typically on the bed or anywhere that they lay. Fortunately, there is medication that your vet can prescribe for Brandi to help with her incontinence once the trial of antibiotics are complete. Its best to place a doggy diaper on her until then. Why is my potty-trained dog suddenly peeing more and having accidents?
I’m sorry to hear about Bruno! I am concerned that he might have developed a urinary tract infection. There is one medication (prednisone/prednisolone) they can caused increased urination and drinking but those should stop as soon as the medication was stopped. The UTI may be even more likely if he’s recently hurt his back or neck because they tend not to posture/squat all the way or for long enough when it hurts. So they hold their urine longer than they might otherwise do or don’t empty their bladder fully. These can predispose to UTI. Take Bruno (and a urine sample if you can catch one) in to the vet to do a urine test and get on antibiotics if that’s what it turns out to be. The urine test will also screen for other causes of accidents like diabetes and kidney disease. Hope this helps and best of luck to you and Bruno!
