Are peanuts safe for dogs to eat in small amounts, or are they bad?

Peanut butter is fine in small amounts. Too much fat causes pancreatitis in dogs. Never give Chance sugar free peanut butter, as it may contain xylitol, which is highly toxic to dogs. As for peanuts, they are fine in small amount, but again they are high in fat. Crunchy peanut butter is fine, small amounts. I hope this helps Ron!

Hello. Dogs do enjoy the same peanut butter we eat, but they do make peanut butter treats for dogs, too. If you do give Simba people peanut butter, make sure it does not contain the sugar alcohol xylitol as this is dangerous for dogs. You will only find this in sugar free versions of peanut butter. None of those nuts are specifically toxic, though the high fat content could cause some vomiting, diarrhea, or pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas that can cause a lot of pain and vomiting). If she starts vomiting and vomits more than twice in a 12 hour period, if she starts acting painful or lethargic, or she’s having watery diarrhea, take her in to your vet. In the meantime, just keep an eye on her, and offer her a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice for the next couple of days. The yolk is fatty however, so you need to watch how many calories of dog food you are feeding so Peanut doesn’t become overweight. Also, if you are feeding a high quality dog food (like Hills, Purina One, Royal Canin, or Iams) you shouldn’t need to add eggs. Good luck and kisses to Peanut!

Yes, both of these foods are safe for dogs - there's no reason that you couldn't give them every day, in small amounts as a treat. Just make sure that you're not using a sugar-free brand of peanut butter, as some of these contain xylitol which is toxic for dogs. Most "regular" peanut butter brands are fine :)

Hello. There is nothing toxic in pecans that would harm a dog. At most, she may have an upset stomach for a day or so & may vomit or have diarrhea. If she feels like eating, you might want to feed her lightly with small meals ( about 1-2 tablespoons at a time ) of cooked ground turkey mixed with plain boiled white rice or low fat cottage cheese.
