Dog's paw is swollen, bleeding, and has pus. Can I treat it at home?

If there is green pus coming from the paw this is an indication of infection that requires antibiotic therapy. I would stop using hydrogen peroxide as it isn't recommended for regular wound cleaning (can actually delay healing if used repeatedly). Clean the area with mild soap and dry well to avoid moisture, apply a topical antibiotic ointment, place an e-collar on your dog to prevent him licking the foot and make an appointment for your dog to see the vet. He likely will need oral antibiotic treatment and the vet will want to check his paw to be sure there isn't a foreign body like a splinter stuck there.

I'm sorry this happened but you must understand this is a very serious wound and should be treated by your local veterinarian. She should be on oral antibiotics. No matter is what is applied to this topically, it will not heal if she continues to chew at it. You will need to either keep it bandaged (provided she does not chew the bandage off) or get her a cone collar like this one until it is healed. Be sure to get the appropriate size. Ouch! Charlie's sores look like they are very inflamed and likely painful. I would recommend taking him in to your vet to have his skin and paws evaluated. He may need antibiotics for an infection as well as anti-inflammatory medication for pain and swelling. Some dogs need bandages as well to protect their feet when they walk from making sores like this worse and allowing them to heal.

You can use the hydrogen peroxide to clean off the blood but you should not use it several times because it can actually slow down the healing process. It's better to gently wash the paw with hand soap. Rinse it well and then pat it dry. Napoleon should also be wearing and elizabethan collar at all times to prevent licking as well as have strict exercise restriction to prevent further trauma.

However, just like you pointed out, there may be a foreign body stuck in there or something else causing an infection. I recommend that you have Tank evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Antibiotics can be started and they can also check to see if there is something stuck there that they can remove to provide comfort and also prevent the infection from reoccurring. Soak it in soap and warm water to keep it clean. Once it is dry you can place medicated powder in between the toes to help minimize moisture to dry it out. You can place neosporin around the nail bed also. If this does not help then you will need to see a vet

Poor Gizmo! That looks really sore. The lesion in the picture could be an abscess, a very large interdigital cyst or a tumor. I would recommend that you have Gizmo seen by your veterinarian. They may recommend a fine needle aspirate of the lesion to get a better idea of what is causing the swelling. Surgery may be required to lance and drain the abscess or remove a mass if present.
