Dog paw cut bleeding: Is it safe to wait until tomorrow for vet?

Sometimes they can be closed, other times bandaging may be best. Ideally wounds should be addressed as quickly as possible to allow for optimal healing. Waiting another day may make closing the wound impossible if it's an option. Make sure that Moose cannot lick the wound, this may require an e-collar (lampshade cone of shame). If it is painful or continuing to bleed he should be seen tonight.

Hi there. So sorry this happened. It sounds like you did everything correctly. I suggest you don't change the bandage too much as you are likely to disrupt the blood clot by doing so causing it to bleed again. If you have a good bandage on then I would leave it. Just make sure it is not too tight. Be sure to keep Lancelot very calm and quiet. Too much moving around can also cause more bleeding. If she will let you, you can ice the wound through the bandage for 10 minutes tonight and then again tomorrow morning. That will help reduce bleeding and swelling. If there is no active bleeding and he isn't extremely painful, then he can likely wait until later today. Waiting until tomorrow would not be recommended. Place an e-collar (cone) on Rufus to prevent licking. Crate him or restrict activity until he sees the vet. Do not give him anything for pain until you speak with your vet. Many OTC pain medications can be toxic to dogs.

Poor Kitty. Try to apply gentle pressure to stop the bleeding. Put an Ecollar on her to keep her from licking it, as that can make it worse. You can make one at home or buy one at a pet store. Having her seen by a vet tomorrow is a good idea.

If it currently bleeding you can use some corn starch to help slow the bleeding. Also if you are able to place a light bandage on it to prevent him from licking it tonight that would be good. You can also use a cone collar which you can find at your local pet store if it is still open. I would take him to your vet first thing in the morning for an exam. He may need to have it cleaned, medicated and professionally wrapped. Your vet will also be able to provide antibiotics and pain meds if need. If it is profusely bleeding then I would take him to your local emergency clinic for attention tonight. I hope this helps!

Poor Gummy Bear! I'm concerned that it's still bleeding and from the pictures, it appears he could need stitches. I think the best thing to do is take him into urgent care immediately to get this treated. I hope this helps.

It looks like she may have a small abrasion or had an insect bite and licked it. Keep an eye on it and make sure it stays clean and dry. If it does not improve over the net day or two or if it gets worse, get her in to see your vet.
