My dog's back legs are paralyzed and peeing blood. Is it an emergency?

Oh dear! I'm afraid this is an extremely serious problem - Dachshunds are very prone to herniated discs in their spine which can cause rear leg paralysis, so I would be very concerned that this could be the problem. He could also have been injured somehow, or could have a neurologic disease of some kind causing him to not be able to use his legs. Bleeding from the rectum coukd be due to internal injuries or a serious illness of some kind. This sounds like a serious, life-threatening problem, so I would recommend taking your dog to an emergency vet immediately. He/she can do x-rays, blood work, or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and see what can be done to treat it.

This is an emergency situation as Cooper needs to urinate and empty the bladder as soon as possible, otherwise it will get over-distended and become flaccid permanently. I would be suspicious that he got hit by something (like a car) from what you are describing. If he cannot stand, or barely stands and has no pain, then it could be a lower spinal cord injury. Blood coming from the penis usually indicates an injury to the penis or the urethra. Considering both of these problems could be serious and get much worse, it's best to take him to the vet as soon as you can. It doesn't appear to be an emergency at this time, so you may be able to wait until normal business hours if he is otherwise eating, drinking and acting normal. Hello. This could be a result of a serious bladder infection, prostatitis, urinary bladder stones, a bleeding polyp/mass or trauma. This definitely warrants a trip to your veterinarian ASAP. Poor Turbena! I'm afraid this is very concerning. Loss of function in the rear legs is most often due to a "slipped" or herniated disc in the spine, but could also be due to some other neurologic problem or illness. This problem needs immediate treatment for the best chance of recovery, so I would recommend taking Turbena to the vet now. He/she can do a complete neurologic exam as well as x-rays or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment right away.

Hi. She needs to be seen right away. Her stance in the photos is very concerning. I recommend getting her to the ER and they will do an exam and assess if she is paralyzed or not. They can provide pain relief as well, which is the most important thing here.

Yes, I would definitely take Kahlua into an ER vet. I would be very concern that if she is trying to urinate and nothing is happening that she may have bladder stones. Those can cause a blockage in the urethra, which is fatal without treatment. It could also be a UTI, but as I said, it's quite concerning that she is trying to urinate with nothing coming out. Please take her into a vet right away.
