My dog has pancreatitis and seizures. Is 8 in 1 dewormer safe to use?

My dog has pancreatitis and seizures issues and i think she might have worms. Is an 8 in 1 de worms safe to use on my dog. As this is a retired service dog because of her seizures but still need her around the house and want to make sure she will be safe

Safe-gard 8 in 1 dewormer contains fenbendazole which is a fairly safe medication. With her history of multiple chronic diseases however I think it would be safest to have Sophie examined by your vet and to have them check a stool sample to confirm whether or not worms are present. You may also want to discuss getting her on a routine heartworm preventative that would also cover many intestinal parasites as well.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! According to Plumb's Veterinary Drug book Fendendazole is considered safe in pregnant dogs. There have been no studies on it's safety in dogs and cats but there were no adverse reactions in women or lab animals. Have a good day!

I am currently working in Belize and we have many other dewormers. Do you not have any veterinarians near you? A better dewormer would be pyrantel pamoate. You cannot get a 2g Ivermectin tablet into a small enough dose for a 1.4kg puppy. Don't even try as you will kill her.

The dewormer i usually recommend is called Drontal plus, bear in mind that unlike the flea/tick products, dewormers do not protect your dog from future infestation, it only kills the worms on spot. for fleas and ticks i usually recommend Bravecto tablet or Advantix spot on. all these medications are considered to be high quality and safe.

Is Safeguard as effective as Panacur for dog deworming? Doses?

Safeguard is Fenbendazole, as is Panacur. So you can use it and it will be just as effective if you make sure to give it according to the exact weight of your dog. You need to give it according to the instructions on the box. If you suspect your dogs have a lot of worms, you should worm them twice (the prescribed course) at a 2 week interval.
