My older dog isn't walking after pyometra surgery. Should I worry?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 10 years and 8 months old | 24.5 lbs

My dog had pyometra surgery on Tuesday about 4pm, her temp is 99.9, eating and drinking on her own now, but she still isn't walking she attempts to sit up and crawl almost and moves freely in her bed to get comfortable, I know the surgery is a lot and she is an older dog I'm just worried that she doesnt want to walk at this point

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question. Poor Armoni. A pyometra makes a dog very sick, and it's a serious operation. I am concerned that she had the surgery Tuesday, and still isn't wanting to walk. She should be walking by now. I'd take her back into the vet first thing in the morning for a health check. Best of luck.
