Puppy not pooping/peeing, sleepy, and wound pus after spay. Normal?

The incision looks normal. Her behavior is not. I recommend a recheck exam. She could be painful or could have a urinary infection. If the doxycycline is causing a stomach upset they may be able to switch antibiotics. They can put her on pain medication also to make her more comfortable. I recommend feeding wet food with added water in it so she doesn't get dehydrated. Again most dogs are back to normal in a day or two after the surgery so please bring her in for a recheck to make sure there is no complication. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Luna. I do recommend that she sees a veterinarian today. Her incision appears to be healing well. I do not see redness, swelling or discharge draining out. However, pictures can be deceiving. I am more worried that she is not eating. The diarrhea needs to be addressed as well. The veterinarian will examine her and take her temperature. A fever, for example, can indicate an infection. If you stopped her medications, which is reasonable given the diarrhea, she may be very painful now though. This too can affect appetite. The veterinarian will guide you on any testing or treatment options. In the meantime, keep her quiet, encourage her to drink so she doesn't become dehydrated and do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. It is not uncommon for dogs to be lethargic a day after surgery. If she is wearing a cone collar, many dogs will not walk or move around much due to the cone. That being said, I do not recommend you take the cone off. Eventually they will figure out how to move around with the cone. If she is not wearing a cone, she should be. Ultimately, you know her best. If she does not seem right to you then call your vet or take her to an urgent care vet. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Congrats on your new puppy! Yes, puppies can sleep a lot when they are little, and as she was recently spayed, she will be recovering from that as well. If Honey did have parvo, you'd see other signs such as vomiting, bloody diarrhea, and anorexia. If you aren't seeing those signs, then I would not be worried about parvo. I hope this helps!

The whole story sounds a little weird to me, it just sounds as she might need an antibiotic course, this should resolve both problems. my only concern would be if the internal stitches did not hold, that is very rare and could cause a lot of problems of course, but i would definitely wait more than 48 hours unless some other more severe symptoms are showing.

Hello. It can take up to 24 hours for all the sedation to work through her system, so she is very likely still a bit under the influence. I would like for you to look at her gums, the tissue just above her canine teeth, to see if she looks nice & pink. If her color is pale, greyish or bluish, get her back to your vet immediately. You can certainly lay with her, & if she is just on a cold floor, I would try to get her on something warmer. The pain medication is just indicated for once a day, so you can not give her any more just yet, nor can you give any aspirin, Tylenol or Alleve. Your veterinarian may have something else on hand if it looks like she needs more, but most patients are feeling much, much better by the next day. Hello and thank you for your question. Masha my hold her bowels for 24 hours without a lot of problem. She should have urinate within 12 hours. Call the veterinarian and ask if they took her out to urinate. That will give you an idea of time. Also ask if she received IV fluids during the procedure. Pets that get these fluids often don't really drink at home that first night because their body go fluids. Do make sure to discuss the urination as well. As long as she is under the influence, she probably won't go to the bathroom but still take her out every couple hours and give her to opportunity. If there is a favorite spot to go that is not a walk to get to, go there first. Offer her half her normal amount of food tonight and don't be too worried if she doesn't eat.
