Dog not peeing right after bladder stone surgery, how long to recover?

It does take time for Little One's bladder to heal from the bladder stones, so yes you can still see some blood in her urine. She can bleed on and off after bladder surgery, but I would still monitor her. If the bleeding gets worse or she starts having difficulty urinating, I would contact your vet immediately. I think it is a good sign that there is no evidence of urine leaking in to her abdomen 4 days after the 2nd surgery! Her bladder went through a lot of trauma because of that there is inflammation. She will take longer than an average cystotomy for that to occur. I would want the straining with small urine production to improve every few days. It may take 7-14 days for the straining ti subside. I would expect similar for the incontinence. As long as she is eating, drinking and happy be patient! Good luck!

It should resolve with time, but is worth discussing with her veterinarian. Some middle aged spayed female dogs will leak urine due to a lack of hormones. This is unrelated to bladder stones, but could be a contributing cause in her case. This condition is known as hormone responsive incontinence and can be asked about as well. If Molly just had surgery today, she may still be feeling some of the effects of anesthesia, which can cause mild nausea and inappetence for 12-24 hours. If Molly's surgery was in the past few days, she may be painful, causing her inappetence. In this case, I recommend calling her vet to discuss her pain management options. If it has been longer than a few days after surgery, it seems unlikely that Molly's loss of appetite is directly related to the bladder stone removal unless there has been a recent diet change that she does not find palatable. A photo may be helpful; is the swelling under the suture line? If he is acting totally normal and the sutures look good, and he is not painful when you press on the swelling, and you don't see any discharge/he isn't licking at it, etc, then I don't think its urgent, however I would recommend that you have him evaluate by your vet sometime in the next few days. Oh man! Poor Ray Ray! He’s had a rough couple weeks! So my guess is that it has to do with gravity. Blood in the urinary tract after these kinds of surgeries is common. I suspect the blood collects a bit at the tip of the penis but there is little urine making it all the way down there to flush it out. So it clots and comes out every once in a while. As long as they are small and not very frequent, I’m not very worried. If they are large or frequent, you should talk to your surgeon right away to see what they think. Hello, thank you for your question about Mollie. A small amount of blood in the urine is to expected after this kind of procedure secondary to the surgery causing mild inflammation/trauma. If Mollie is otherwise acting normally and this continues to improve I would not be concerned. If this persists or she begins to demonstrate other symptoms such as more frequent urinations, decreased appetite, or lethargy it is possible that she may have developed a secondary urinary tract infection.
