My dog won't eat, is shaking, and acting lethargic. What's wrong?

Poor Brownie! The good news is that his nose being cold and wet is not a sign of illness in dogs. A dog's nose can go from cold and wet to warm and dry simply by lying in the sun or next to a heat source. It is concerning, however, that he is not eating or drinking, and is shaking and laying around. It is serious when a dog won't drink water, and I would have Brownie seen by a vet right away. This not eating and drinking could be caused by a systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. He could be shaking because he has a fever. The vet can diagnose what is causing his symptoms, and can treat him for them. I would take him into a vet right away.

All of these signs do not point to one specific problem, however, they do tell us that Chloe is definitely ill. It sounds as your pet is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet urgently, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. . if the vet thinks it is more serious he will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

When a dog feels poorly, there are often behavioral changes and that may be why he doesn't care when you lift him. I would have him seen by a vet as soon as possible.
