Why isn't my pet eating after moving? Is he sick or overweight?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 1 year and 1 month old

How do I know if my pet is over weight? I was thinking about changing his diet but we just move and his appetite isn't what is was? Could something else be wrong, anything i should watch out for?

This chart will help you determine if Niko is overweight. If you are still not sure then you should have him to your vet for an exam.

Him not eating well could be due to stress from the move but it could also mean that he is not feeling well. Not eating well is a very non-specific symptom. If he is not eating due to stress from the move he should get over it fairly quickly (within a few days to maybe a week). If it has been going on longer than that (or if he is otherwise sick like vomiting or diarrhea) then he should be examined by your vet.
