Why is my dog not drinking water or pooping, but otherwise normal?

A few tablespoons of plain canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) or a tablespoon of Psyllium powder (unflavored) can help move things along. However the other symptoms you mentioned do sound concerning to me. Decreased appetite along with drinking more water frequently and constipation may signal a kidney function issue, liver issue, or may be due the development of diabetes among other causes. My recommendation would be to have Pretty girl seen by her veterinarian as soon as possible for an exam and perhaps some blood work to check her organ function as there may be an underlying health issue here. Hi there and thanks for your post! Dogs should defecate at least once every day. If it has been 1 and 1/2 days since Luna's last bowel movement but is still eating and drinking normally, she may be a little constipated. You can try adding a tablespoon or two of plain canned pumpkin to her food twice daily for an extra fiber boost to help move things along. If that doesn't help, I would recommend Luna sees her veterinarian to rule out other causes of constipation such as a parasitic infection or other cause. This depends on a lot of factors including if she is otherwise exhibiting any symptoms of sickness, if she is eating canned food which already has water in it, how much water she is actually having, among other things. If she is not drinking anything especially if having other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite and/or lethargy, she should be evaluated as soon as possible to prevent dehydration and to investigate the cause. If she is otherwise doing well and is eating canned food, it would be ok to monitor her for another 12-24 hours and if not improved to have her evaluated by a veterinarian then. Hopefully she returns to normal and there is no need for a veterinary visit. Have a great day!

It's good that Milo ate the food with water in it. It may be he's dehydrated leading him to not poop. Continue to add water to his food, and hopefully he will poop today. If he has not by tomorrow morning, then I would take him into the vet to get checked out. Best of luck.

If he is otherwise acting normally (no vomiting, normal appetite, energy normal, no pain) you can try adding a teaspoon of canned pumpkin to his food twice a day, or giving him some cat hairball remedy (such as laxatone). If this doesn't resolve the isssue within 24 hours or he develops any of the symptoms I mentioned before, he will need to see his veterinarian. IF Kenzo is eating,drinking and acting normal I would not be to concerned if he has not defecated. Sometimes if dogs have diarrhea it will take a few days for them to have normal stool. However, if he is lethargic, vomiting or not eating I would recommend taking him to a vet because not defecating can be a sign of obstruction. If Kenzo is having diarrhea I would also recommend taking him to the vet to determine the cause. In younger dogs parasites, virus and even indigestion can cause diarrhea. I hope he feels better soon

It's possible he is still in pain and is reluctant to defecate. It's also possible a medication may have caused constipation. I recommend to call the clinic and tell them what is happening. They may recommend a stool softner or a change in medication.
