Dog not drinking much after vomiting & on wet food. Should I return to vet?

If he was recently at the vet for vomiting, and now is not eating or drinking anything, he should be seen again as this would make me concerned about the possibility of a foreign body, or pancreatitis, which would require additional therapy. If your vet didn't do x-rays or bloodwork at the previous appointment it's time to make sure there's nothing more serious going on. However, since your vet just saw Iron I would start by giving them a call with an update, in case they have other input based on their exam findings. Hope this helps and he feels better soon!

She is going to drink less on that bland diet because those foods hold a lot of moisture. She is getting liquid and water through the food so her intake is less. You can add chicken broth or extra water to the food to encourage her to get more if she is eating well.

Sounds like Thor had a major health issue. Poor guy. You don't need to give him anything special for hydration, just keep fresh water available at all times. If Thor was given fluids at the vet's office, he just might not need the water yet. I'd recommend putting out a fresh bowl now and measuring how much water you put in with a measuring cup, and checking what's left in 24 hours to see how much he's consuming. If it seems like less than usual, call your vet with an update and ask for their advice - he might need more treatment. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Romeo. Wet food has a very high moisture content. So dogs eating this type of food drink less water than when eating kibble. If he is exercising less, this will cause him to drink less as well. As long as he is eating and acting normal, then you do not likely need to be concerned. As long as he is urinating 3-4 times a day then he is getting enough water input. If you cut back on the water in his food, he will likely start to drink more. Also if you happen to be feeding wet food, this will also decrease how much water he is drinking. It is good that the vet can’t find anything wrong. I would then consider acid reflux as the possible cause for his night time vomiting and recommend asking your vet for acid reflux medication to see if there is any improvement. Also you should consider a food brand change if he is currently on a lower to mid quality food. My top suggestions for brands are: Royal Canin, Hills Science Diet, Eukanuna or Purina. I am happy sunny is feeling a little better. It can be normal for dogs not to defecate multiple days after diarrhea. The GI system has to build up the feces for them to defecate. IF he is eating,drinking and acting normal I would not be concerned. IF he is lethargic and still vomiting I would take him back to the vet for additional testing like blood work and x-rays. IF you are adding water into his food it is likely he will not drink additional water
