Sudden bump on dog's nose overnight. What is it? Should I be concerned?

Hello Something appeared under my dog noise over a night. Could someone tell me what it is ? Should i be worried ? Thanks

Hi there. I'm so sorry to hear about Echo's troubles. In some cases, a lesion like that on the nose can just be from coming in contact with an irritant that could've just bothered the skin there. The irritant could've caused Echo to rub her nose on a surface and cause that lesion to appear. A staph infection can also develop around the area.
Other things I look into if the lesion doesn't go away, starts to spread, or gets worse, are autoimmune diseases of the skin.
I would advise just spot cleaning the area with some mild soap and water, like dial gold hand soap twice per day for a few days or some vetericyn wound spray. Creams or lotions will likely just be licked off, so I'd avoid using those.
If it's not getting better in 3-5 days, I'd have Echo examined by her veterinarian to insure she doesn't need any diagonstic skin tests, or prescription medications to help the lesion resolve.

There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesion once a day (not her whole body, just the lesion). Also protect the area from trauma by having your pup wear an elizabethan collar at all times. My dog has a strange growth on her nose. Should I take her to the vet?

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria or fungal infection). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any). My dog has a small, skin-colored bump on his nose. Is it an infection?

This looks like a mild skin infection or irritation from an insect bite or injury. You can wash it with antibacterial soap, rinse it well and then apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. As long as there are no other spots this should heal fine. The overlying skin may come off and then the pinker skin may be showing until the fur grows back in which could take a month or so. Why does my dog have a sudden hard bump on her snout and red sores?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! A lot of skin bumps and lumps can look the same. She could have hit her nose on something and the bump is related to trauma and will go away, it could be a benign growth (like a histiocytoma), it could be part of a skin infection or immune reaction, hives or a cancerous growth. If the bump doesn't resolve in a few days I recommend having your Vet look at it. The sores around her mouth can also be due to infection or an immune condition and may or may not be related to the new bump on her nose. I hope this helps and I wish Luna a speedy recovery!

My dog has a sudden crusty bump on her nose. When should I see a vet?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bailey! If that just showed up in 24 hours I would be a bit concerned. It could be from rubbing it on something or an insect sting. Other concerns are for something malignant, like Mast Cell tumor. I would have her seen tomorrow at your Vet. You can apply triple antibiotic cream twice daily until then. I would caution you to avoid cleaning it in case it causes it to bleed. I wish you the best!

My dog has a growing spot on her nose. What is it and what can I do?

Ouch! Any new or suddenly growing growth like this should be checked out by your vet in person ASAP. Allergies, infections, skin irritation from rubbing it on things, and some growths and tumors can all cause spots like that on the nose, and can also cause rapid changes and discoloration like this. Until you can get to your vet, I would place an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Amber and keep the spot clean and dry to help reduce any further irritation. It is also a good idea to monitor the size and shape of it and how rapidly it is changing as this can help your vet figure out what may be going on. Your vet will likely take a full history as well as a potential sample of the spot to see what cells are present and provide treatment as needed.

What are these pink sticky bumps on my dog's nose? Should I see a vet?

That are certainly weird looking! Depending on when those lesions started and if they seem to be itchy, my presumptive diagnosis might differ considerably. It is possible that Cami might have been sticking in muzzle in an area that she shouldn't have been, resulting in some sort of irritation, and the lesions you currently see. They do definitely appear to be red, inflamed, and possibly infected based on the picture. Another possibility is that there is an immune-mediated condition that could be the cause of this. There is a disease known as Pemphigus that is known to cause skin lesions near the nose. I would definitely take Cami into the vet to have these areas assessed, and have some preliminary diagnostics run on the affected portions of the skin. Hope this helps!
