My dog has a nose growth, lump, and swelling. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | 3 years and 11 months old | 16 lbs

My chi mixed has a growth in her nose and a hard lump on top I was wondering if you had any idea what it may be. I am including a photo it's always running and always swells then goes down.

Poor girl. This most likely is either a mass (cancerous or benign) or an inflammatory response to a potential foreign body inside the nasal passage. It could also be an immune mediated condition. Since all of these things can look exactly alike, the only way to know for sure is to get this area tested by your vet. If there are any new things that you have introduced to your pet, then I would be suspicious that this may be a weird allergic reaction to that particular thing and remove it to see if this resolves the issue before seeking further testing. As long as this isn't bothering Piggy then you can take a few days to sort things out and then visit your vet if you think testing is the next best step.

My dog has a red lump under his nose. Is it serious or contagious?

Hello, sorry to hear about Chiquitin. It looks like a small benign cyst, however, the only way to know is to remove it and submit it for biopsy. The biopsy will tell if this is an aggressive lesion or benign. It does not look like something that could be contagious. I would recommend scheduling and appointment with your veterinarian to have this evaluated and removed. My dog has a growing bump on her nose. What is it? Is it serious?

A lesion like that could be several things including an ingrown hair, allergies, skin mites, bacterial infection or a skin tumor/mass. There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesion once a day (not her whole body, just the lesion). Also protect the area from trauma by having your pup wear an elizabethan collar at all times. If the lesion does not start improving within a week or if it is getting worse, have her examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

My dog has large lumps on her nose and swollen gums, what's wrong?

If these lumps have suddenly appeared then it may be an allergic reaction to a sting or such. If so t should settle down within 48 hours. However it would be worth going to the vet to ensure she is okay and that it is nothing else such as infection or masses. Even if it is just allergic reaction they can usually give an injection to help it settle faster.

Look at that cute nose! IT is really hard to tell by the picture if Mia has small pustules (skin infection) or if they are actual masses/bumps. The small pustules could be from a primary allergy. A contact allergy could cause irritation to the nose and lead to the pustules. IF they are growth I would recommend a vet complete a fine needle aspirate. This is when a vet places a small needle into the mass and looks at the cells under a microscope. This will allow the vet to determine what the growths are being caused by. I would recommend taking Mia to a vet due to her young age and having a hard time telling what is going on based on the pictures. Hope she feels better

Dog's nose swollen after daycare: Is it a cut or a growth?

Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! From the pictures you have provided, I would suspect this to be a skin tumor. It looks to be benign and similar to what we call a sebaceous adenoma. It may have been much smaller previously and if it was bumped or traumatized may have grown in size due to inflammation. If this is bleeding and does not go down in size, I would suggest having it removed. Many of these can be frozen off with cryo treatment that many vet clinics provide as a service.
