It could be skin fold dermatitis, either bacterial or fungal. Until he gets to see the vet, you can try wiping it with a little hydrogen peroxide every day. You can also apply a little Neosporin, but he will probably lick it right off again.

The most common reason that we will see a small raw area on the inside of the nostril is due to irritation of some type. That can be something as simple as a scratch from a stick or toy that will take some time to heal. I typically do not recommend applying anything to the area because it can make dogs try to lick or rub the area more which can make it take longer to heal. If your vet has examined it and is not concerned, then I would just recommend monitoring it. I would expect that it will slowly resolve as long as Otis is not continuing to irritate it. This looks like a bacterial and possibly yeast in his skin folds from his saliva. This is really common in larger dogs with large lip folds. You could try to use some medicated wipes like miconahex-triz wipes. If it isn't healing, then I would have your vet take a look at it. He will likely need some antibiotics and possibly an anti-fungal medicine to help this heal. I hope this helps!

It is not unusual for pugs, frenchies and bull dogs to get a facial fold dermatitis. Moisture builds up in the wrinkles and an infection can occur. There are wipes you can get to to wipe the affected areas. I like Mal-a-ket wipes or Douxo chlorhex wipes. Your Vet should carry them Good luck!

You can try cleansing with some diluted betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution. Try not to get any in his mouth. Keep the areas as dry as possible. Any ointment applied will likely get licked off. have your veterinarian examine Benny if daily cleansing does not improve the inflammation.
