Is a red, irritated spot near my dog's nipple normal or concerning?

I can see some irritation of the skin just below the nipple, but the nipple itself doesn't look diseased. I would recommend trying a hot spot spray from you local pet store to see if you can resolve the itching and irritation of the skin. However, if it does not improe then its best to take Loki to your vet and discuss more treatment options for his apparent skin allergy. I hope that Loki's skin improves soon! I don't think this looks too concerning but if you are worried you should take him to your vet for an exam. If you want to try something on him at home, I would suggest you try this product. I'm sorry to hear of your concerns with Jake. A red spot on the skin can occur for many reasons including an insect bite, skin infection, mange, trauma or allergies. As long as Jake is acting normally and eating and drinking, this probably does not require immediate attention. If the spot is not going away or if you notice any other lesions, I would recommend having Jake seen by your veterinarian.

Hello. This is nothing to be overly concerned about. Manakoa is old enough that there are hormones circulating & this nipple just seems to be a little more sensitive to the effects of estrogen at this point in time. If you were planning on spaying her, this is a good time to consider doing so, but otherwise, as long as the nipple does not continue to show further hormonal influence, it should not significantly affect her. Thank you for your question. I think that she appears completely fine. It is normal to see a little skin irritation and what is visible in the photos is not worrisome. The puppies nails can scratch her and that is most likely the cause. As the start to develop teeth, watch for more serious problems, but so far she looks good. As long as it doesn't seem to be bothering her I don't think there is cause for concern. Some pigment around the teat can be normal. Ask your vet to take a peek at it the next time you are in. If she starts to seem itchy, if it becomes painful, or if the air starts to fall out or the skin become red or oozing, take her in. I hope that's helpful! It doesn't look too serious to me. The nipple is mildly inflammed, which could be due to the surgery she had (for example it was irritated while the skin was scrubbed for the surgery). Please, monitor the nipple for the next few days. If you notice that it is getting more red, swollen or is painful for Ell, please, take her to your local vet for a check.
