My dog's nipple is covered. Could it be a serious skin infection?

This looks like a mild skin infection/inflammation. I suggest you use these medicated pads on it. If after about a week to 10 days of use, the lesion is not better or looks worse then your vet should examine him. Hi ! From the attached pictures it looks like the nipple has turned inwards and as a result there is a bit of infection in the skin surrounding the nipple. You can bathe the area with some salty water, using some cotton wool to clean it. Make a mug of hot water, add a teaspoon of salt and then some cold water to make it lukewarm. Wipe the area gently. You can do this twice a day, using a clean cloth to dry the area afterwards by gently tapping it. I would book a vet check up anyway, as it is important also to feel the area to make sure no other abnormalities are present. Hope this helps !

It is possibly local skin fold infection or mild inflammation around the nipple. Please, clean the area with antiseptic skin solution (ideally containing 4% chlorhexidine, for example Hibiclens) twice a day for 4-5 days. If it does not get better, you will need to take Lady to your local vets for a check.

It looks as if Fluffie has a pretty severe infection of her mammary glad. She will need antibiotics and possible a surgery to debride the dead tissue so it can heal. I’m sure this is painful and uncomfortable for her as well. I would recommend getting her to a vet as soon as possible.

This does look like a skin rash. I would clean it with antibacterial soap and then apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. It should heal in a few days to a week. Please keep her from rubbing or scratching the area. If you see more lesions then I recommend a veterinary exam and treatment. You're correct. It looks like a minor scrape. I would not be worried about it. You can put some Neosporin (or similar) on it 2-3 times per day if you would like. Thanks for the photos! Hope this helps. Best wishes!

This appears to be a small crusted area and could be from irritation or a scratch. I would monitor this for the time being and it should fall off on its own if it is a scab. If it worsens or does not resolve, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine the area so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
