My 62lb puppy outgrew NexGard. Can I give him two doses?

Since he is still growing, I recommend starting with 3 doses, or even single doses until he is either done growing or over 10 pounds. Check his weight prior to each dose to assure that he is still in the appropriate dose range.

With medications in tablet form, you can certainly cut them in half and still be sure that you are giving half of the medication. Unfortunately with chewable medications (like Nexgard, Heartgard, etc.), splitting a dose in half does not ensure that half of the medication will be given. The active ingredients are mixed throughout the chews, but not necessarily in a uniform way. To answer your question, no, you shouldn't give Frosty half of a Nexgard. Instead, see if you can exchange the product for the correct size. It's likely that your vet will be able to prescribe a single dose while you sort out the exchange process. She'll probably be fine for this month if she's just a pound or two over. But in the future, if she's gained a bit of weight and is now borderline or just over the maximum weight for her current dose, I would get the next size up. Nexgard has a very wide margin of safety, so the manufacturer recommends "rounding up" if a dog is near the upper limit of the weight range. :)

Often times veterinarians may opt for the higher weight range in these preventative products when the weight is borderline between two dosages or when rapid weight gain is expected within the next 30 days. No adverse reactions were observed in healthy Beagle puppies over 8 weeks of age when treated with 5 times the maximum dose repeated 6 times at intervals of 2-4 weeks. She should be fine!
