My puppy's neuter incision has a bump. Is this normal healing?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 months and 26 days old | 51 lbs

Im checking in again on my pup’s neutering healing. I’m happy it seems to be dry and doesn’t seem to be swollen, but I’m still concerned about the bump I’m seeing. Based on previous responses and the articles I’ve read on what to look for-I’m not seeing the bad stuff but there really isn’t anything on what good healing looks like. So please ease my overreacting and paranoid mind and let me know if this still looks okay! Please and thank you!

It looks healing fine and the little bump will slowly reabsorb.
It is probably best to request a consultation with us so we can monitor it every day and follow this up properly.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Cooper. I see he had staples put in instead of stitches, which may be contributing to the bumpiness. Typically yes, it is a smooth incision, but I don't see any signs of infection. It appears to be healing from the pictures, and it may smooth out when the staples are removed. I hope this helps!

This sounds like he may be having a reaction or mild infection from the knot in the suture. If the rest of the incision is healed I recommend gently cleaning the bump with hydrogen peroxide. Sometimes it will break open and a small amount of fluid will drain then it will heal. As long as he’s feeling fine give it a few more days to improve. Spayed dog incision bump: Is it normal or should I see the vet?

Although quite inflamed and with mild amount of dry discharge, the incision looks healing normally and does not look infected. A vet check up at this stage is not needed. Buster collar should be kept on at all times. My dog's neuter incision has a soft bump. Is it infected?

I am concerned with how this looks, it's quite red and swollen. It looks like the area may be infected. Without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain what is causing it, but he should see a vet for it. The vet can diagnose this bump and treat it. I'd take him into the vet in the morning. My dog has a raised bump near his neuter incision. Is this normal?

The wound looks quite dry and not inflamed so I do not see any need to take Moose to your local veterinarian right now. Please keep in touch with us. I think the lump is just a reaction to stitches which will resolve slowly in the next weeks.

My puppy has a bump on her spay incision. Is it normal or a hernia?

Without a physical exam or images, it is difficult to determine what it happening. The lumps could be sutures under the skin which close the muscle layer. These typically resolve on their own. Continue to restrict activity and keep the e-collar (cone) in place to prevent licking. You can post another question with up to 3 images attached. My dog's spay incision has a pink bump weeks after surgery. Normal?

It looks like there could be some inflammation at the site of the incision. That could be due to her body breaking down the sutures, or she caused some sort of trauma to the area. If she is acting normal and you don't feel any swelling around that area I would wait and see if it improves. But if there is swelling, drainage, or pain I would worry about a dehiscence (opening of the incision) which would be an emergency and she should see a vet immediately.
