Could my dog's suspected mouth ulcer be causing his recent seizures?

I hate to hear this is happening. Anytime a pet has changes to the respiratory pattern, this should be viewed as a potential emergency situation. I recommend to have him examined right away. Chewing does not normally cause ulcers. Viruses can. So can chewing on electrical cords which could also cause pulmonary edema which can show up as problems breathing. If the antibiotics have not made a difference, recheck with your veterinarian. Rex may have significant periodontal disease. A complete dental cleaning may be necessary. This will require anesthesia, so pre anesthetic blood work should be done to assess major organ function. This blood work can assess kidney function which can also be the cause of his condition.

Dental abscesses, broken teeth and ulcers can all cause pain, as can foreign bodies stuck in the mouth. A full dental exam under sedation may be required and blood tests for kidney disease may be recommended also

Missy appears to have several areas of bone loss and exposed tooth roots. I suspect she has several diseased teeth and significant infection. Sometimes severe bone loss can results in deep ulcers and even fistulas. I recommend to discuss having Missy sedated to remove the diseased teeth and clean out any ulcers. Then give her mouth time to heal. It’s unlikely that this problem and the odor will go away with out the full treatment. Ulcer and bad teeth can cause discomfort. This sounds like severe dental disease with gum loss and loose teeth. The chattering of the jaw is a sign of pain and you should have him assessed by your vet as soon as possible to remove any further damaged teeth and clean the rest of them

Rex urgently needs to be seen by your veterinarian for an exam. You likely will need to schedule a dental cleaning under anesthesia. He likely has a very painful tooth root abscess. The vet will remove all tartar, and also clean under the gingiva wich will also remove bacteria which are causing infection and bad breath. He will also remove all rotten and infected teeth. This should greatly increase your dog's quality of life and will help prevent heart and kidney disease. He will also be able to eat properly without a toothache! Thank you for submitting your question regarding Zeus. I would recommend having some bloodwork checked on him. Rarely, severe kidney disease can cause ulcers in the mouth. If this is not the case, he could be reluctant to move due to joint, muscle or abdominal pain.
