My dog has a severe mouth infection. Is pet dental work expensive?

These are all signs of a pretty severe dental disease and infection. Pus in the mouth and foul odor are usually the tell-tale signs. I would suggest getting financial assistance b/c this can be a huge undertaking to get a pets teeth cleaned and diseased teeth extracted, but this is the only way to correct it once the teeth are this far gone. I'm sorry to hear that Friday needs professional dental work. It is, unfortunately, very common in her breed crosses. It would recommend saving for the procedure. Dental infections are painful and can even spread to other organs in the body. Cleaning under the gum line and extracting any damaged teeth will resolve the infection and any pain. In the meantime though, you can try a few things at home to help her out. There are dental treats and water additives to help combat dental disease. Tooth brushing is most effective though. Depending on how bad her teeth are, it may be painful for her. If so, forgo this option. I hooe this helps. Good luck!

Hi. They can paw at their face or kick alot if mouth is painful, or from allergies. In this case it could be either or both. There isn't anything unfortunately you can do about the teeth other then the cleaning with a veterinarian. You can speak to your veterinarian about a round of pain medications and antibiotics in meantime, but those are temporary. You can look in to care credit for payment plans allowing interest free financing for 6-12 months by going to care credit.com

Yes, that is a common presentation with a molar tooth infection. The tooth will need to be extracted and they will put Tootsie in antibiotics for the infection. Blood work is usually done before anesthesia and they will scale and polish the teeth and check the rest to make sure they are healthy. Once the mouth is healed then you can start brushing her teeth or using another dental product. They may also put Tootsie on pain medication. Your dog needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. He could have an infected tooth/teeth and need extractions and a dental cleaning as soon as possible. Infected gums and teeth can introduce bacteria into the bloodstream that can adversely affect your dog's heart. This problem needs to be addressed now.
