Pawing at the mouth is definitely concerning that something is really bothering her. With an older chihuahua the most likely reason for this is dental disease. The tooth in the picture does appear somewhat inflamed, but I would be surprised if it was just that one causing her the pain. There may be another diseased tooth, or possibly something stuck in her mouth that is causing her to paw like this. Either way, I think it's a good idea to have a vet check her out. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). Hi, yes Mimi is going to need several teeth extractions. Unfortunately poodle are very prone to dental disease. You could start to see a vet to have some antibiotics that will help against in the infection and discuss costs and if excessive wether they have payment plans. Hope this helps !

Biting or chewing of the feet can be a sign of allergies, or infection of the nail beds or other nail bed disease. I would recommend bringing her in to your vet for an examination. She may need medicated wipes or oral medications to help decrease the irritation and biting.
