Hi, thanks for using Petcoach! Thanks for the picture, it really helps in this case! Those bumps in his mouth are viral papillomas. They are very contagious from dog to dog. They take 1-2 months to incubate so I do not think they are from yesterdays play session. I would warn that dog's owner that their dog may get them. They are benign and will go away on their own. When I see a dog with them on appointment I crush a few of them to make them bleed and place the dog on azithromycin for 10 days. That tends to stimulate the dogs immune system quicker to help fight the viral infection. Blue should not play with other dogs until all the lesions are gone. If Oscar is a dog then it is very, very unlikely that he could contract a respiratory infection from Sylvester. Most upper respiratory infections in cats are caused by feline herpesvirus or calicivirus which are not contagious to dogs, however occasionally there are some bacteria that might be contagious to dogs. Ask your vet if you are concerned.

Hi, I'm Dr. Johnson. Thanks for using Petciach. Poor Chelsea! Lip fold dermatitis can causes by yeast or bacteria. I am assuming your Vet told you it was from yeast. If not then I would recommend that you make an appointment. The Vet will likely shave the area so the skin can dry out, may send home antibiotics, steroid and/or a topical application. She should also have her teeth/mouth check to make sure doesn't have severe dental disease or any other oral problems. Hopefully the infection is just from the area getting wet and once treated won't reoccur. If it reoccurs it may be from allergies or dental disease (that would cause her to drool thicker saliva more often). I do not think it is contagious so your other dog should be fine! Good Luck!

That is a good question. So, the vaccine does not suddenly stop working after 6 months, but will provide Bobbie Jo the best protection from those viruses for the first 6 months after vaccination. In order for Bobbie Jo to infect another dog, she would need to be infected with one of those viruses, then spread them to another dog. Those are respiratory viruses, so the most common way they are spread is through secretions from the nose and mouth, but a bite is not needed for transmission. Most commonly a dog will cough or sneeze in an area and infect the area and other dogs. So, the concern for Bobbie Jo would be if she were exposed to a dog that was infected with one of those viruses that she would be more susceptible to them if her vaccination was overdue. There are no pictures uploaded with your question so I can't see, however if there was a puncture wound and it was from another animal then antibiotics are usually required as they usually become infected. Any swelling and 'squishyness' (a pocket of fluid under the skin) is a sign of infection as well as any pus (yellow/green/cream discharge). If these are present I would recommend having Onyx seen by a vet as antibiotics and anti-inflammatories are probably needed. Best of luck with Onyx.
