My dog has lumps after antibiotic shots. Are they injection reactions?

Many injections can cause temporary lumps which are generally painless and resolve over 4-6weeks. If there is any discomfort or heat in the area or it does not reduce over time you should have it checked by your vet to rule out more sinister causes

Since the bumps aren't bothering Max, you can choose to monitor him. They may resolve on their own, but if not then he should be seen by your veterinarian. It could be an allergic reaction or localized infection. Monitor for rapid change or growth, redness, pain, discharge or itching. If necessary, use an e-collar (cone) to prevent licking or chewing until he sees the vet.

If he received injections at that time, this may be a reaction to the site of the injection, most of which resolve after approximately 6weeks. If there is any pain or heat in the area or if it continues to increase in size you should have it assessed by your vet to rule out growths or abscesses/infection

I wouldn't worry about the lump just yet, but I would have it checked out by the vet on Monday. This lump could be a cyst, an abscess, a lipoma, or a benign tumor. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the vet diagnoses the cause of the lump, they can discuss treatment with you.

That is a very common occurrence after vaccination. The vaccine can cause a localized reaction and it should resolve on its own within a month. If it persists, seems larger, or bothers him that have your vet take a look at it.

It certainly is possible to see swellings at injection sites, but 2.5 weeks later is a longer period of time than we will commonly see before a swelling will appear. If there is any possibility that Emmett was bit or injured at that location, I would certainly be worried that it could be an infection at that site (despite the antibiotics). If the swelling is getting larger, I would recommend having your veterinarian examine it. If it is a swelling from one of the injections, it should gradually get smaller and should not be painful. You should give the antibiotics a couple days to work, i am hoping that by Sunday you will start seeing some improvement. if by Monday it is not getting better take him back to the vet, it might need to be opened surgically in order to drain the fluids that are accumulating on that spot.
