My dog has bumps after shots/grooming. Allergic reaction or monitor?

It could be a localized reaction to the injections. If they are not bothering him I would just leave them alone for now. Just monitor them closely and if they continue to enlarge, burst open or start to bother him then you need to call your vet.

Those spots on Brody could be several things including an allergic reaction (like hives), allergies to fleas, allergies to something in the environment, food allergy or skin mites (like scabies). Unfortunately, all these conditions look alike. Each one of these problems is detected and addressed differently and I recommend to discuss with your veterinarian which one to start hunting down first. Allergic reactions are treated with steroids and antihistamines. Parasites are often ruled out with an oral medication like Simparica. Food allergy is best ruled out with a diet trial using a hydrolyzed protein. Environmental allergies are a little more difficult to detect but a response to therapy or a blood test can give an indication. Once you figure out and address the underlying cause, the lesions should not come back. I recommend to call your veterinarian and have Brody examined again. When pets don't respond as expected to treatment, it can mean that the real diagnosis has not been discovered. For skin health in general, there are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing his diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. Also protect the area from trauma by having Brody wear an elizabethan collar at all times. Hello, these are hives so Max is having an allergic reaction to something. He may have been bitten by something or inhaled dust & pollen that initiated the reaction. If he is acting normal, this will probably subside over the next 6-12 hours. If he is in any distress at all, itching, wheezing, drooling or vomiting, he needs veterinary attention. If he does not seem bothered by the bumps, you can try bathing him in a mild oatmeal based shampoo, using only cool water. Let the shampoo sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing. If need be you can repeat this tomorrow. If you are at all worried about how he is acting, please see your veterinarian who has the medications necessary to treat this issue. This is probably an allergic reaction due to an insect bite or a plant outside. those reactions tend to resolve within 48 hours without treatment. if the swelling becomes too large or if your dog is lethargic, take her to the vet in order to get an antihistamine injection.

This could be a skin reaction to a sting or bite, or a cyst or a little abscess or in fact a small tumor or wart. I suggest you observe the spot weekly, and if it changes in size or color or if it starts to hurt or the skin around it turns red, then you should have it examined by your veterinarian. If it stays the same or gets smaller, then it is likely nothing you have to worry about and you can show it to your vet the during the next routine visit.

Hello. This sounds like it might be an allergic reaction. This could result in swelling around the airways. If hives are present (raised, haired bumps about 1cm across), then I would suggest a visit to the vet for some medications. Good luck with your little one!
