My dog had a lump removed. How long should I keep the bandage on?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 44 lbs

My female 6 year old Labrador had a lump under the skin on her rear left removed incision about 6 inches but not into the flesh. How long should I keep the bandages on. I am in Thailand and the clinic is closed for a long holiday.

Bandage is only necessary if the incision was not closed back completely, in such a case a bandage may be needed until the wound heals and closes up, otherwise it is usually better to keep it unbandaged, just try to keep the flies away from the wound so it doesn't get infected.
