Why is my husky's lower jaw red and irritated? Is it serious?

What type of water bowls are you using? if you are not using stainless steal then this could be the reason. it could also be an infection or an allergy, if this is the case this will require a vet visit to get treated.

Any kind of mild allergic reaction to a bug bite or substance can cause lesions like this on the nose; therefore, it is perfectly logical to wait and see if it improves with time. However, if the redness seems to worsen, spread or causes Shadow severe discomfort, then its best to have your vet take a look at this. Some other possible causes for this would be a severe allergic reaction, inflammatory response to a foreign material or substance, or even a possible autoimmune skin disease. Poor guy. He may have been bitten by an insect and is having an allergic reaction. If he doesn't seem to be bothered by it, I would just monitor it for now to see if this resolves on its own. If it does seem to bother him or doesn't resolve then its best to take him to your vet for treatment. Antihistamines and allergy medication will likely be prescribed. This is probably due to a severe allergy, although it could also be fleas or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat Koda with a high quality flea treatment (e.g. advantage), then get him to the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try discovering the cause of the allergy. Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair the skin lesions (steroids and antibiotics). simultaneously you should start him on a prescription hypoallergenic diet for at least 2 months. Hopefully you will see some results after all this, if not you and your vet should consider putting him on a long term allergy treatment (Atopica or Apoquel).

That is a rash on Troy. Rashes can develop for many reasons and common causes include fleas, environmental allergies or food allergies. You need to keep Troy from biting at the area as this will make it worse. Make him wear an elizabethan collar any time you are not directly watching him. You can also apply a dab of coconut oil to the area twice daily. Rub it in well and do not allow him to lick it as this may cause his stomach to get upset. Make sure to treat him for fleas as this will eliminate it as a cause. I recommend the tops products such as Nexgard or Simparica. Based on Bear's relatively young age and the photo that you have provided I would be suspicious that Bear is experiencing a mild bacterial or viral infection in this area. Puppies are often more susceptible to viruses such as the papilloma virus more than adult dogs, this virus typically forms cauliflower like growths in/around the mouth, but certain forms can be more mild and not lead to these signs. It is possible that Bear has a bacterial infection, these are usually fairly benign and self limiting. Another possibility is that Bear is experiencing sensitivity or an allergy to something in his environment leading to this lesion. Some dogs are very sensitive to certain types of food bowls or toys, and can develop these lesion secondary to this. I would recommend having Bear evaluated by your veterinarian so that they can examine the lesion and Bear's mouth. They can discuss the need for additional diagnostics such as an impression smear or gentle sampling of the area. Depending on these findings they can then make recommendations for necessary treatments such as antibiotics. Hope this helps, good luck!
