That sounds like a lot of fun for Sara and the rest of the crew!!! I would definitely recommend to get all the dogs use to each other well before the trip, that way if there are some aggression issues or other problems, these can be addressed right away. It would be a good idea to get all the dogs use to long car rides. If some of the dogs don't travel well, you can talk to their vet about sedatives/anti-anxiety medications. Also you will need to make sure that all pets are up to date on vaccines as well as flea AND heartworm prevention. I recommend to use a more complete heartworm prevention such as Interceptor or even a combo product like Trifexis. These products prevent heartworm and also have activity against 3 intestinal worms. This is smart since the dogs will be traveling and thus have higher exposure. Lastly, you should carry with you the vaccine records and to be safe, get an interstate health certificate on each one. I would recommend looking into the requirements for your dog to travel to this island. Most islands are rabies free and you will need a rabies titer which can take 6 plus weeks to get back. this titer has to be sent to a very specific lab and also you will need a international health certificate writen by a usda vet. It might not be worth the stress and expense of travel to take him with you for a vacation

This is a great question! Yes dogs can fly by plane; in fact, when I moved from the USA to New Zealand, I shipped out two dogs and two cats with me. They made that trip just fine. Airlines typically require a health certificate from a vet before the dog is allowed to fly, and I would check with the airlines as to their requirements for transporting pets. Again in my experience, the airlines have treated my animals well, and I would expect that of any airline :-)

Yes you will but you need to have a new passport with your name. Your local vet can write on the new passport all the vaccination already done and change the name of the owner. Ask you local vet about it and make sure you do it as soon as possible as it takes few days to have it done.
