My dog died from high liver enzymes & yellow vomit. What caused it?

Sounds like she had acute liver failure. I'm so sorry this happened. Unfortunately, liver failure can have any number of possible causes. Without a necropsy (autopsy) with histopathology of the tissues you will probably never know exactly what happened. I am so very sorry you lost Charlie. Unfortunately without having the complete medical history of Charlie I can only make an educated guess. Liver disease is the most common reason for higher than normal levels of ALT. In an old dog like Charlie this could be a sign of a liver tumor or chronic liver disease or a sign of Cushing's disease which often is caused by a brain tumor. The seizures could have been caused by a brain tumor or liver failure. Urea is made when protein is broken down in the body. ... If the kidneys are not able to remove urea from the blood normally, the BUN level rises. Heart failure, dehydration, or a diet high in protein can also make the BUN level higher. So it appeas that Charlie was very ill with liver, kidney and possibly heart failure. By deciding to have him euthanized, you gave him the gift of not having to suffer. It is the the last and best gift you could have given him and you should not feel guilty. He is a happy chappy now and you did the right thing. Again I am sorry you lost Charlie, but I hope I could ease your mind a bit.

Her liver values (AST and ALT) and her kidney values were elevated (BUN and creat). I agree that a toxin is most likely the cause in a dog Nancy's age, even if she didn't contact the toxin the day the seizures started. Another possibility is something infectious, like Leptospirosis though they usually do not seizure. I have seen increased liver enzymes secondary to seizure activity (from the elevated body temperature and muscle activity). Again I am sorry for your loss!

Oh no, I'm so sorry that you suddenly lost Minnie Mae Pearl! How horrible for you, please accept my condolences for your loss. Please keep in mind I can't say for certain what caused her to pass away, but I can offer some guess. It is possible that she had cancer. It's common in senior dogs, and it can be festering for a while before the dog sudden becomes ill. They can't tell us when they are sick and are pretty stoic with pain, so oftentimes when we notice something is wrong, it's very late in the disease. That happened with my own dog last year. He seemed perfectly normal, and then one night he appeared to crashed. I rushed him into the clinic for treatment, and he had an abdomen full of fluid likely from a ruptured splenic tumor. He had shown no other signs of illness before then, and unfortunately I had to let him go, so I completely understand how hard it is to suddenly lose a beloved pet and feel devastated. Her death could have also been caused by liver disease, pancreatitis, or a number of other illnesses. I wish I could say for certain to give you some answers, but I can only offer my guesses and my sincerest condolences for your loss :-(

These results do not test for infectious agents but do indicate an elevated white blood count which may be due to infection as well as damage to kidneys and liver. There are many infections which can cause similar results and you should monitor your other dog closely and ensure she is up to date with parasite prevention (especially tick prevention) and her vaccines as a general precaution, A blood test to rule out any eary indicators of disease may also be considered if you are worried

Oh my. I am so sorry but i sounds like Kegsi is in liver failure. I would highly recommend considering humane euthanasia if you can't go forward with proper testing and treatment at this time. It is a good possibility that she has a severe liver condition that has a poor prognosis, or that will require hospitalization stay and IV fluids to treat for.
