My dog is limping. Is his foot pad scab healing or needs a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My dog has been limping for a couple of days, today we noticed this on the pad of his foot. Is it just a scab healing or something more that should be attended to by his veterinarian?

The tissue is their pads is thicker and takes longer to heal. It seems to be trying to on its own. I would soak it in warm water a few times a day to try to soften the area to see if that scabs comes off so new tissue can grow. If a discharge is noted or there are no changes over a few days then I would have your vet are it
