Why is my dog lethargic with yellow poop after ear sedation?

Generally, topical medications such as ear drops are not absorbed into the system enough to cause gastrointestinal changes. More likely there is something else going on that is causing the stool color change. Young puppies are susceptible to infection including intestinal parasites and easily develop diarrhea due to a change in the diet. If the issue persists, it's definitely worth taking him to your local vet for an exam.

The color of the stool is usually associated with something they are eating, but the yellow/orange color can sometimes be associated with liver disease. Since Marley does not seem to be responding to previous medical treatments, I would recommend that you discuss additional diagnostics with your vet. I would start with an intestinal parasite screening, and if that is negative, move on to bloodwork and/or a GI panel (specialized bloodwork). Occasionally all labs can be normal and surgical or endoscopic intestinal biopsies are needed.

It sounds as Mia is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

However, if this does not resolve or progresses to watery diarrhea, a veterinary evaluation should be pursued. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Pepper evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. The ocular discharge may or may not be related to his lethargy, decreased appetite, and usual stool volume and color. As long as the eye is not red, I would not worry too much. The lethargy, decreased appetite, and stool are suggestive of a primary gastrointestinal, pancreatic, or liver problem. You are doing a good job of trying to keep him hydrated. Continue the pedialyte and offer some chicken and rice. Discuss bloodwork including testing for pancreatitis, and abdominal x-rays with your veterinarian.

Did anyone feed him anything other than his puppy food? If so he may have an upset stomach. He can also have one if he has intestinal parasites or a virus. That could be possibly the consequence of the deworming tablet which is causing some stomach upset. I would recommend to start a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions for the next 3 days. Then gradually go back to normal diet through the following week. If the signs persist or if you notice vomiting, inappetence or lethargy a check up at your local veterinarian would be needed.
