Why is my dog lethargic with red, watery eyes and drinking a lot?

My dog's eyes have been watery and red. She's been acting very down, and not herself. She's also been drinking lots of water.

Red and watery eyes may indicate an issue such as an allergy to something, or even illness such as respiratory issues. You may see additional signs such as fever, lethargy, loss of appetite or even nasal discharge. An increase in drinking water may be related, or may just be an attempt to stay hydrated if your dog is dehydrated from not feeling well (you can check this by gently pinching the loose skin on the back of your dog's neck- if it is quick to go back to normal, your dog is hydrated, if it is slow or sticky in returning back to normal, it is an indication of dehydration).

If her symptoms do not resolve within the next day or so, or if she shows additional signs of illness or worsening of already seen symptoms, then scheduling a veterinary checkup is best.

These clinical signs can sometimes be observed in patients with gastrointestinal conditions such as gastroenteritis, infections, inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, among others. I recommend that you have Tom evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment. They may recommend abdominal imaging and bloodwork to try to investigate the issue. Good luck! I hope he gets better soon! In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration.

Poor Allie!! It sounds like she has a respiratory infection and an eye infection. She does have to see a vet immediately. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem is considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Having difficulty breathing is also something that needs to be examined by a vet right away. The vet can diagnose her symptoms and can give her medication for them. It sounds like from your description that Doc Brown is sick, and I would be thinking that he could be suffering from a respiratory infection or allergies. Feeling sick would lead him to be more irritable as well, and it is possible he could have a fever. A dog's normal temperature is 101-102.5F, and anything above 102.5F is a fever. I'd have him seen by a vet in the next day or two. The vet can diagnose what is causing his symptoms, and can prescribe medication to treat him. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

My dog drinks too much water, has red eyes, and dandruff. Is she sick?

Rita needs to be examined by the veterinarian. Drinking more water than normal can be related to a bladder infection, kidney problems, diabetes or endocrine disease. The other symptoms could be related to the same conditions so I recommend to play it safe and have her examined. She will need some blood work and a urinalysis. other diagnostics may also be recommended. I hope this helps.

Your pet needs to be seen by a vet right away. Even with no other symptoms, extreme lethargy is very concerning. Your dog may have eaten something that disagreed with her, swallowed something that has caused an obstruction, has parasites, is coming down with some kind of infection, there are a number of possibilities. Your vet will do an exam and labwork to determine the cause of your pets symptoms and give you some treatment options based on those results.

Those are a lot of symptoms, and it would be best to schedule a vet visit for your pup for a complete exam and to narrow down possible causes. Allergies, irritation, urinary infections, getting into something irritating, underlying illness or metabolic disease, etc can all be possibilities, so an exam is needed to try and figure out the problem. Be sure to make note of any other symptoms you are seeing, how long these have been ongoing, etc, as they will help your vet better determine what course of action to take.
